The challenge
A sewing pattern catalog isn't browsed like an ordinary store: shoppers know which garment they want, not the pattern's model code. And behind the brand there's a community eager to show off what they've sewn.
The solution
On top of Drupal we built a full application: a pattern catalog with faceted search, cart and checkout, user accounts with modal login, favorites, a forum, and community photo uploads of finished projects (“sewn by N people”). On top of that we added an AI-powered search chat: the shopper describes the garment in her own words and the system suggests the pattern, without forcing her to guess the catalog's terminology.
The result
The catalog spans over 800 listing pages, and the site works at once as a store, a techniques encyclopedia and a community hub. It was recently relaunched with expanded functionality, and a new phase is already in development.
